I went on a 3 day hiking trip in Strathcona Park in the beautiful mountains of Vancouver Island British Columbia. In this video I show you some of the amazing scenery and views, interesting things we noticed, and wildlife that I encountered. We began the hike at night and had to use our headlamps to make our way to our first campsite for the night. The following morning we hiked to our campsite for the weekend which was Kwai Lake. It's very beautiful and peacefull there and has a stunning view of Mt. Albert Edward and the surrounding mountain range. I did most of the hike in Vibram Five Finger shoes or barefoot and really enjoyed it. Unfortunately the battery ran out on the camera shortly after we arrived and I missed a lot of great moments for filming. We swam at a waterfall, hiked to an lookout cliff over a huge canyon with a river at the bottom, spotted lots of alpine wildlife and plants, watched an epic meteor shower under the stars, and hiked back with a group of friends that we had camped with at Kwai Lake.
I even managed to get in a long mountain run on Saturday evening before dinner. Hiking and camping in the wilderness is so much fun and so restorative. I felt so relaxed and healthy while on this retreat from civilization. If you ever get the chance to come to Vancouver Island you should definitely go to Strathcona Park for a dayhike or some overnight camping.
